MidAmerican Energy Company IT Asset Analyst 1 or 2 in Des Moines, Iowa

This is a multi-level posting. This position monitors, coordinates, and carries out procedures within the information technology asset management (ITAM) process. (25%)

Controls, tracks, and updates the receipt, identification, categorization, recording, and documentation of information technology assets to include hardware, software, and infrastructure assets. (25%)

Analyzes software licensing compliance and ensures audits and identifies issues related to information technology asset management (ITAM) processes and procedures by introducing controls, tracking and updating the receipt, categorization, recording and documentation of information technology assets to include hardware, software, and infrastructure assets. (10%)

Assists with the development of asset standards involving the identification, classification, and control of assets. (10%)

Coordinates the reconciliations of records in the asset management system to maintain database integrity. Ensures the internal tracking database accurately reflects the audited values, and determines the status of assets to recommend the purchase or removal of non-compliant software. (15%)

Researches the validity of software assets for compliance with licensing contracts and vendor as well as determine the need for additional licenses, upgrades and maintenance. Coordinates with other departments to correct asset licensing anomalies and move towards compliance in the various departments. (15%)

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

Identifies, records, maintains, monitors, audits and documents information technology assets. Performs regular audits of company owned infrastructure, hardware and software assets. Works both independently and in conjunction with other analysts to provide asset auditing and status reporting, ensures software licensing compliance as it relates to the manufacturer contracts, and audits and identifies issues related to the information technology asset management (ITAM) processes and procedures.

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, IT or related or equivalent work experience. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience can be substituted. (Typically six years of a related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

The IT Asset Analyst 1 position requires zero to two years of related technical experience involving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The IT Asset Analyst 2 position requires three years of related technical experience involving a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Experience in an information technology environment preferred.

Basic knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of asset management.

Basic knowledge and understanding of licensing compliance rules, retrieval, and interpretation of end-user license and product use agreements.

Ability to learn and proficiently operate standard office equipment and use required software applications, including word-processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, database, and discovery tools and applications.

Demonstrated ability to organize and perform multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Ability to gather information, identify relationships and trends and apply findings to assignments.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including communicating instructions and information clearly, concisely and accurately, as well as convey information through both formal and informal documents.

Basic understanding of information technology, related technical documentation and technical verbiage.
