MidAmerican Energy Company Associate Investment Analyst/Investment Analyst/ Sr Investment Analyst-BHE Infrastructure Services in Des Moines, Iowa

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function) The investment analyst supports directors and managing directors in originating, screening and closing investment opportunities in energy, transportation, food, data or infrastructure services sectors for BHE Infrastructure Group. Responsibilities include the development of advanced and integrated financial models with complex technical financial calculations; valuation and financial statement analysis and review; interpretation of results; and preparation of presentations to be used by senior management. Typical Duties Develops, maintains and validates complex valuations, forecasts and other financial models of potential investment opportunities in multiple segments; performs extensive research and data gathering on each investment opportunity in defining key inputs and assumptions utilized in models. Supports the preparation of internal recommendations and associated project presentations in support of acquisitions, or other investment opportunities and ensures that the commercial, financial, delivery and regulatory aspects in support of these efforts are coordinated, complementary and documented. Interacts with various parties regarding financial models and assumptions including BHE companies, developers, investors, financial institutions and other stakeholders involved throughout the investment process. Perform other financial and business analysis including ratio, cash flow, sensitivity and other analysis to monitor investment performance, and to identify financial impacts of business strategies. Monitor external news sources and investor communications for material events impacting potential investment opportunities; update financial models and related analyses as appropriate and communicate impacts to senior management. Supports multiple projects simultaneously and promotes coordination between BHEI offices, particularly for portfolio evaluation and reporting. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or master’s degree in business is required. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.) Two or more years related work experience in public accounting, financial forecasting, financial modeling and/or financial analysis is required for the investment analyst level. Four or more years related work experience in public accounting, financial forecasting, financial modeling and/or financial analysis is required for the sr investment analyst level. Strong accounting and analytical skills; knowledge of financial analysis methods and tools. Advanced software skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and ability to utilize advanced modeling techniques such as programming in order to automate model functionality. Establishes and communicates strategic direction to key senior management leaders. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of corporate structuring, finance and financial markets. Highly effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events and to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to convey financial and technical information accurately and understandably to senior management. Demonstrated project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Advanced software skills to develop and use spreadsheets, documents, presentations and reports using various applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, SNL Financial and other financial applications strongly preferred.
