Summary
Responsible for substantive legal services, including case management of a number of large and small legal matters and/or projects and research, in support of and under direction of attorneys in Xcel Energy Legal Services. Position will involve interaction with all areas of Xcel Energy. Independently works with outside counsel as required. Regularly represents Legal Services through direct contact with clients (in meetings and through internal correspondence).
Essential Responsibilities
Initiates, drafts, manages and/or interprets complex correspondence, pleadings, and other documents related to real-estate transactions; prepares summaries of documents as requested for accuracy and identifying issues for review and decision by attorney.
Initiates, drafts, manages and/or interprets contracts, including leases, easements, purchase/sales agreements, and various other agreements and/or amendments; as requested, negotiates terms and conditions of various contracts. Work directly with outside vendors, with limited attorney involvement.
Manages the intake of legal research requests and conducts, analyzes and reports the search results from digests, practice manuals and other sources.
Responds to and prepares discovery requests and responses; collects, compiles and manages document production and preservation; attends hearings, etc. as required.
Required
Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
5 years of practice as a paralegal in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent experience
Excellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal)
Able to work independently and manage multiple large tasks simultaneously from and prioritize workload with a strong attention to detail
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, and WestLaw/Nexis-Lexis
Preferred
- Strong preference given to candidate with experience in real-estate law.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $24.60 to $34.40 per hour
