Position Summary

The purpose of Enterprise Security and Emergency Management (ESEM) is to enable Xcel Energy's vision, mission, and goals by proactively leading efforts to identify, protect, detect, and respond to all-hazard threats and events. Leadership roles are defined at the team, group, and organizational level and provide coverage for the following organizations (and the supporting teams and groups within): Business Security Risk Advisory & Support Services; Systemic Monitoring, Analysis, and Resilience Services; Security Strategy, Policy, and Compliance; Portfolio Management & Performance. Lead subject matter experts tasked with addressing all-hazard threats; all roles have a potential to identify, protect, detect, and respond to threats and events that could have significant financial and/or reputational impact to the company.

This position will be accountable for portfolio delivery of quality solutions that meet business objectives on time and within budget. Responsible for overall management and communications of multiple projects across various business domains, up to $50M budget and ranging in complexity, scale, and duration. Plans, hires, directs, and develops project manager resources and other core project team members. Resolves escalated project, program, portfolio, and enterprise issues and risks. Drives alignment with business strategy to prioritize, plan, and execution the Capital Roadmap. Ensures discipline in delivery through a structured methodology. Provides smooth transition of capabilities to steady-state operation. As a key security leader, the ESEM Manager owns relationship management during the project lifecycle and overall satisfaction of the outcomes. They liaise with business, Security executives, project sponsors, and across internal teams and third parties to deliver against the Enterprise Security strategic roadmap.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Planning and Management - Leads the long-term program planning effort, including the overall implementation strategy, scope of deliverables and delivery dates, the definition of major program/project milestones, and cost/benefit. Ensures alignment with strategy, operational objectives, policy and standards - identify and leverage synergies to other initiatives. Provides ongoing evaluation input to security policies and practices. Manages all aspects of a portfolio domain - strategic planning, execution, operations. Leads Steering meetings, Governance presentations, and overall Executive communications. Stays abreast of delivery practices, methodologies, industry tools and best practices. Drives continual improvement to delivery capabilities. Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Systems, Audit/Compliance, and other internal groups to drive results.

  • Portfolio Leadership – Hires and manages core project team members, ensuring viable work plans are established and structured delivery practices are utilized. Provides development and performance management to staff. Leads efforts to improve delivery framework practices, and optimize PMO Operations. Achieves on-time, on-budget project goals, as well as Portfolio financial goals. Oversees delivery practices. Critiques and validates project plans, estimates, risk plans and forecasts. Ensures the successful completion of project deliverables & milestones in a critical/complex environment.

  • Customer Relationship Mgmt – Fosters strong relationships with project constituents and benefactors throughout lifecycle. Manages customer expectations and drives resolution of customer concerns. Ensures customer satisfaction with project execution and outcomes

  • Product Management: Ensure products and services operate in a lean, stable, and adaptable manner. Ensure product delivery and operation are cost effective and within budget.

  • Design and operate portfolio and program management processes & templates

  • Define requirements, build and operate a PPMO tool

  • Reviews and manages program and project delivery critical path (business and value case, project variances, impacts from outside the project, risks, issues and escalation paths)

  • Partner with key executive and others to drive stakeholder management and their involvement in program/project outcomes

  • Integration Management – Liaises with Program and Project Management peers to identify and achieve solution, delivery and other cross-project synergies

  • This position may be filled at a ESEM Manager level or ESEM Senior Manager level depending on experience

ESEM Manager Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in related field/sector, including 5 years experience managing a team.

  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to understand complex technical and/or business information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across organization boundaries and influence others.

  • Ability to define and manage internal projects and milestones.

  • Ability to both lead and partner in a cross functional team environment.

  • Strong investigative, analysis, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.

ESEM Sr Manager Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Technology, Science, Business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in related field/sector, including 7 years experience managing a complex function, team, or program.

  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to understand complex technical and/or business information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across organization boundaries and influence others.

  • Ability to define and manage multiple internal projects and milestones.

  • Ability to both lead and partner in a cross functional team environment.

  • Strong investigative, analysis, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills

  • Mastery of project planning and business need justification preferred

  • Mastery of SDLC methodologies preferred

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $100,000 to $164,000 per year
