MidAmerican Energy Company Senior Pricing Adviser in Davenport, Iowa
The senior pricing strategist position develops and initiates pricing strategies to recover all revenue requirements. It develops terms and conditions for all rates, including bundled gas and electric rates, unbundled electric delivery service rates, transition charges and related tariffs. The senior pricing strategist position also develops and initiates pricing strategies for energy efficiency and economic development. It manages and coordinates regulatory related compliance and process reviews. This position also directs and/or performs and analyzes cost of service studies, testifies in regulatory proceedings, interprets tariffs and performs other duties as needed to create, implement and manage tariffs to recover revenue requirements.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Develops and recommends pricing strategies to recover revenue requirements. Recommends rate designs to implement pricing strategies. Responsible, in coordination with senior regulatory data analyst, for estimation of the impact on customers of proposed changes in rate designs. Develops and recommends terms and conditions for customer focused tariffs. Works closely with internal stakeholders including legal, distribution engineering, information technology, gas supply and operations, key account managers and other technical staffs to interpret and ensure proper application of tariffs. Interprets and reviews proposed regulations, rule makings and regulatory orders. Prepares comments and makes recommendations regarding company responses. Responsible for review and interpretation of regulatory and other industry developments and recommends regulatory strategies. Maintains a database of information on filings by other companies in states served by MidAmerican Energy Company. Contacts other companies regarding items of interest. (30%)
Informs and advises business unit management on the impact of regulatory related activities both internally and externally. Manages and coordinates regulatory related compliance and process reviews and provides recommendations to management. (10%)
Directs and/or prepares and analyzes cost of service studies to ensure costs are allocated to customer groups appropriately. Testifies in regulatory proceedings and prepares analyses, exhibits, and data responses for presentation to regulatory agencies. (15%)
Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5%)
Establishes and maintains relationships with regulatory and consumer advocate staffs to allow exchange of information and presentation of company positions. (5%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, engineering, mathematics or economics. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Minimum six years of prior work experience with utility rates or a related field, including one year in a senior/technical leadership role.
Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyze regulatory decisions, research new rate designs and provide advice and recommend company positions.
Effective oral and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.
Computer skills must include spreadsheet and word processing applications.
Experience with database applications or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is a plus.
Influencing skills to persuade, direct, lead opinion and negotiate.
Long-term planning skills to interpret industry trends, regulatory and customer requirements and corporate objectives and to develop long-term pricing strategies.
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
