Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary:

The Electric Compliance Specialist will work in the Quality Verification Work Documentation team to perform multiple audits including Estimates and Contracts that are performed by the SP&D group and distribution Pole Loading Calculations (PLCs). Ensuring documents are accurate and in compliance with regulatory & PG&E standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Familiar with the Overhead Construction Manual, Underground Construction Manual and Tariffs.

  • Ensures that all documentation (such as but not limited to estimates, ConDwgs/GSRs, contracts, inspections tool calc) are current, complete, accurate and in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.

  • Ensures Pole Loading Calculation (PLCs) and ConDwgs are current, complete, accurate and in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.

  • Enter outstanding corrective actions into Corrective Action Program (CAP).

  • Develops, implements and maintains an operating and reliability standards compliance framework.

  • Using trends from audits performed to identify gaps and work with responsible party to create a gap closure plan.

  • May monitor transmission or distribution operations to ensure compliance with national, regional and local regulations.

  • Uses independent judgment and specialized operating and regulatory knowledge to evaluate operating events, disturbances and performance.

  • May respond to regulatory data requests, investigations, compliance and regulatory audits and customer inquiries.

  • Conducts self-reporting, root cause analysis, and the development of mitigation plans.

  • Understands, documents, and reviews state, federal, and local compliance obligations.

  • May guide the work of less experienced Compliance Specialists.


Minimum Qualifications:

High school or GED

7 years of combined experience with compliance, project management, or estimating/engineering.


Background in Auditing, Estimating, Service Planning, SOX Controls, Construction and GO95 Standards

Bachelor’s degree in related field

PE, PMP, CISP, NERC Operator, Certified Auditor/Fraud Examiner

Thorough knowledge of Compliance Management Framework and internal controls.

Advanced knowledge of assigned area of business’ processes and procedures.

Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), General Order 95 (GO95) and California Independent System Operator (CAISO).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences.

Project management and facilitation skills.

MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, & Visio skills

Working knowledge of SAP Work Management and Business Warehouse
