Nat Gas Structuring Analyst Sr

Job Description:

Responsible for modeling and reporting costs, asset allocations, and customer class level differences across the entire retail natural gas portfolio. Maintains an open line of communication with multiple departments including trading, pricing, risk, accounting, etc. Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of pipeline and utility requirements in multiple retail markets, specifically in the Midwest.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:

  • Structure and model various complex transactions in AEP’s current deregulated gas markets based on customer rate class, asset allocation, market risk, and local distribution company (LDC).

  • Model and update relevant delivery costs appropriate including transportation, storage and LDC fees as changes are added through new customer types, tariffs, rate cases, etc.

  • Work with traders, schedulers, pricing, risk, and sales groups to ensure all relevant cost and capacity details are monitored and updates are communicated as changes flow through.

  • Monitor and adjust for market area premiums and local production markets as needed.

  • Communicate market regulatory developments and any perceived changes in the cost to supply our current markets.

  • Evaluate and model costs, assets, and market risk for potential new markets with possible expansion value in the future.

  • Calculate daily demand forecasts using customer enrollment data and future weather forecasts in support of position management.

  • Develop a back casting model to validate previous load forecasts accuracy in position reports.

  • Assist trading in building out a cost structuring report per LDC based on daily flow/costs.

  • Develop new tools and processes to optimize AEP’s in house energy trade & risk management (ETRM) system: Horizon.

Minimum Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study required. Quantitative fields, mathematics, or business preferred.

Experience: 5 years of experience in retail natural gas supply or structuring is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.

  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in the ETRM system Allegro/Horizon.

  • Excellent attention to detail, producing accurate and timely results.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
