Senior Systems and Hardware Support Technician

Who We Are...

In 1924, Colorado Springs voted to create a four-service utility of electricity, natural gas, water, and wastewater services. Since then, as a municipal utility, our focus has been on the basics - providing exceptional customer service while keeping costs low. Colorado Springs Utilities was recently awarded the Diamond Designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA). The Diamond status is the highest awarded by the APPA - recognizing our utility for having some of the highest ratings in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvements - among the more than 2,000 public utilities in the nation. Come join Colorado Springs Utilities' Information Technology Services as a Senior Systems and Hardware Support Technician . In this role, you will provide system and database administration support to end-users across all of Colorado Springs Utilities. You will support the performance and operational efficiency of all technical equipment and the systems utilized to manage this equipment.

Why should you apply for this role?

You and our energetic, service-oriented team of technical experts will be responsible for ensuring that the wide range of technical devices (PCs, laptops, smartphones, printers, tablets, etc.) - and their applications and operating systems - that our employees across the organization use daily are operating and performing correctly. This will require you to have a complete understanding of our hardware requirements, and how the systems that manage these devices operate efficiently. You will contribute to the design of the COE footprint for all of Colorado Springs Utilities. This job has excellent career potential, where you will continue to develop expertise in a wide range of hardware and application functionality - and will continuously be provided with opportunities to take on more challenging projects within IT.

Your job responsibilities include...

  • Analyzing, designing, and implementing operating systems; troubleshooting and resolving hardware and application problems; and patch management

  • Providing technical training to end-users and the team, and advice regarding information systems and connectivity issues

  • Recommending computer policies and standards for the IT department, and researching and evaluating new technologies and products

  • Monitoring and responding to a variety of complex technical hardware and software problems, and utilizing a variety of testing tools and techniques

  • Technical writing for system configuration and procedures

  • Providing guidance, training, and coaching to less experienced technicians on the team

  • Application packaging and distribution through our Enterprise Software Center

  • Managing endpoint device management systems, such as SCCM, MS Intune, Mobile Iron, Printer logic

  • Utilizing PowerShell scripts to automate processes within SCCM

  • Creating automated processes between Intune and SCCM

  • Creating compliance reporting from the endpoint management systems

Who you are...

You are likely someone who comes with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a closely related field, along with extensive knowledge of Microsoft SCCM's administration and reporting functionality. Ideally, you are proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, Azure, SCOM, Microsoft Intune, and have a solid understanding of patch management and patching compliance. Familiarity with Windows PowerShell is also beneficial, as well as certifications in A+, Net+, and Security+. In addition to the technical aspects of this job, you are someone who thrives on building meaningful working relationships with your team and with other members of the organization - and who excels at providing exceptional customer service. You possess a drive for learning and continuous improvement, and the ability to work autonomously - but you will never be truly working alone as our team takes pride in helping each other succeed.
