Electric Line Troubleshooter

Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to add a dedicated and driven professional like you to our Electric Line Troubleshooting team. This group is responsible for performing a wide variety of specialized duties as an Electric Troubleshooter , without access to immediate supervision. You will spend your time quickly and correctly respond to emergency outages and calls for service, identifying problems and making or arranging for repairs. Individuals must maintain knowledge of current distribution system changes and modifications; follow established field switching procedures; communicate effectively with customers, Distribution System Operators, and other department field and supervisory personnel.

How you’ll enjoy spending your day:

  • Working with and in areas close to energized lines and underground vaults

  • Performing Distribution and Transmission Switching to accommodate repairs and clearances

  • Scheduling outages with customers and electricians for new construction and projects

  • Working independently

  • Performing the physical aspects of line construction and maintenance

  • Appling safety standards in completing work assignments

What you bring to the team:

  • Advanced knowledge of the electric line industry

  • Distribution and Transmission Switching to accommodate repairs and clearances

  • Scheduling outages

  • Working independently (Climbing and Switching)

  • Performing physical aspects of line construction and maintenance

  • Electrical systems principles, voltage requirements, equipment, installation, and maintenance

This position requires the successful candidate to live within Colorado Springs Utilities Service Territory within 5 months of the date of hire/transfer. In addition, if selected, you will need to work on-call, overtime, weekends, holidays, etc. as business needs dictate.

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed a certified Line Technician Apprenticeship program, a valid CDL Class A driver’s license, and have at least two to four years’ experience working as a journey-level line technician.
