Job Summary

This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration . While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company.

It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

Provide dedicated, subject matter expertise and support to the Principal Regulatory Specialist & Quality Assurance group in the execution of the Pipeline Safety Management System and Quality Assurance Program within PSE&G's Gas Operations business. This position works with project team members, subject matter experts, and other PSE&G departments to monitor and implement plans to ensure successful Pipeline Safety Management & Quality Assurance Programs.

Work with Company subject matter experts, e.g., Quality Control, Safety, Construction, Training, Engineering and/or others as needed, to continually identify process improvements to assist the Gas Business in moving toward a zero-incident culture.

Research and maintain knowledge of industry best practices, trends, industry-related regulatory and legislative changes impacting Compliance and Risk Management and recommends changes within the organization.

Ensure adherence to approved gas construction standards, safety equipment use and safe work procedures in the effort to achieve the highest criteria for quality.

Maintain and apply knowledge of PSEG Construction and Safety Standards, Emergency Response policies and procedures and recognize, stop and correct conditions as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support management in the development, and implementation of the Pipeline Safety Management System (API RP 1173) through the Gas Business and related cross-company functions.

  • Conduct gap analyses for PSMS (Pipeline Safety Management System) and compare performance for each program; recommends process improvements.

  • Participate on committees /meetings focused on Pipeline Safety Management systems and Quality Assurance, both internally and externally, such as for the Northeast Gas Association and the American Gas Association (AGA).

  • Document trends and makes recommendations to management regarding opportunities for improvements within each program.

  • Support management with communication and efforts to operationalize PSMS at all functional levels of the Gas Business.

  • Provide continuous improvement evaluations of the PSMS through use of Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology.

  • Continuously evaluate for procedural gaps as it applies to PSMS (Pipeline Safety Management System) and compare performance for each program; recommends process improvements

  • Support management in the development, and implementation of the Pipeline Safety Management System (API RP 1173) through the Gas Business and related cross-company functions

  • Provide continuous improvement evaluations of the PSMS through use of Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in the Utility/Construction industry

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Leadership and Accountability skills - able to lead work streams as appropriate; Able to manage multiple priorities

  • Decision-Making and Judgment- must have the ability to recognize, stop and correct working conditions as appropriate. Must possess and exercise sound judgment; be self-directed with proven professionalism, teamwork and cooperation

  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement with a focus on measurement of results

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license

  • Safety sensitive position; DOT testing required

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Utility/Construction Safety, Quality Assurance/Control

  • Experience working on moderate to large projects

5 years of experience
