Job Summary: The Distribution Coordinator monitors distribution power flows, voltages and electrical equipment performance including the proper operation of distribution feeder breakers, line reclosers and regulators. Works as part of an Electric Trouble rotation to direct daily work and resolve problems on the electric distribution systems. The Distribution Coordinator applies established operating procedures and safety rules while directing the response of Field Operations personnel for planned and emergency switching or other operations on the distribution system. In the execution of their daily work activities, the Distribution Coordinator will also execute the following work tasks dependent on schedule placement:

  • Monitor and utilize the distribution outage management system to dispatch and direct the appropriate field personnel for emergency response and for the restoration of electric service.

  • Continuously track the assigned locations of field personnel and the status and condition of the electric distribution system to provide a safe work environment for personnel.

  • Monitor SCADA alarms and safely operate automated distribution equipment utilizing the Distribution Management System.

  • Monitor electric emergencies and scheduled workload to effectively prioritize electric orders while maintaining appropriate response and appointment times.

  • Dispatch electric customer service requests and emergency response to field personnel utilizing the Mobile Data Terminals or voice dispatch using the radio system.

  • Initiate and coordinate the notification or call out of other ancillary personnel and/or departments who may be affected by the power delivery system activity or needed to support storm restoration or other increased workloads.

  • Coordinate resource utilization with other Distribution Coordinators on duty to fully utilize all available field resources and reduce emergency response times while maintaining on time customer appointments.

  • Respond during system emergencies.

  • Provide technical support and aid to direct field performers on the operation of overhead and underground line equipment.

  • Understand and administer work rules, union agreements, and assignment of duties to various field personnel.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering OR a minimum of at least 5 years related work experience with outage management tools/processes, field, line, or transmission /distribution operations.

  • Valid Driver's License

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of electric distribution systems, system components, work practices, and operating principles.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and keyboarding

  • Leadership experience or ability

  • Working knowledge of mobile work management systems, outage management applications, or system control applications

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time

  • Must be available outside normal work hours and respond to storms and other system emergencies

Work Hours

  • Rotating Shift Including nights, weekends and holidays
