About Transmission and Distribution:

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T&D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 4.9 million customer accounts.

T&D Training is required to provide core fundamental training services to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities to maintain and modernize the electrical grid of the future, enhance system reliability and ensure workplace safely. T&D Training ensures that employees can effectively plan, construct, operate, and maintain the electrical system by effectively managing a variety of craft training and apprenticeship programs. The Manager of Training Operations is vital in supporting these efforts.

The Manager of Training Operations leads the team responsible for managing a $40 + million training budget, and the performs the tracking and reporting of departmental performance to senior management. This position also coordinates and communicates with internal/external stakeholders and client organizations to ensure strategic objectives are paired with the effective and efficient utilization of funds.

Day to day…

  • Managing $40 + million training budget for the T&D Training organization and regularly reporting on performance to senior management.

  • Collaborating with peers to determine business objectives related to internal staff and client driven needs by coordinating the centralized administrative and analytical effort, the manager will also shape the project management support strategy across various T&D organizations.

  • Ensures that the vision and goals of the organization are in alignment with the Company's goals and communicates appropriately to staff.

  • Responsible for providing leadership to staff including counseling, training and development, salary administration, hiring selection and disciplinary action.

  • Communicating and supporting all Company Safety programs and policies by embedding into the Business Services Support culture.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

You absolutely need to have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or related discipline.

  • Five or more years managing/supervising/leading a team or project team.

  • Experience forecasting, business planning, and/or managing an operational budget.

  • Experience in a training organization

  • Consistent track record managing teams and projects in a cross-functional, matrixed organization driving collaboration and alignment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of effective collaboration.

  • Has strong ethics and the ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities, positively influence others, and navigate ambiguous challenges.

  • Shown communication and presentation skills in diverse settings such as in 1:1 meetings and senior leadership meetings.

  • Knowledge of company policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; discipline or function being led; applicable governmental laws and regulations.

  • Experience in effective resource planning, decision-making, results delivery, team building, continuous learning and improvement, and keeping current with industry trends and technology as it relates to QA.
