Dominion Energy's Emissions Monitoring Support Group is looking for an energetic individual to fill an Instrument Technician vacancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing audits, calibration, preventive maintenance and repair at various Dominion plant facilities using computer systems and microprocessor-based controls, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical/electronic instruments and emissions meteorological and associated air monitoring instruments. Specific responsibilities will include: auditing of plant continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS); RATAs, linearities; installation, testing, repairing and calibrating of recording and indicating instrumentation and circuitry; removing, dismantling, cleaning, maintaining, and assembling instruments, replacing defective components; and connecting instruments to simulation equipment and performing tests. The position requires the ability to interpret and follow USEPA test methods and internal test procedures and to maintain hardcopy and electronic records for reporting audit processes, and collecting and recording environmental data to support plant activities. Candidates should be proficient in MS Excel and Word, and be skilled in working with computer based instruments. Selected individual will work at multiple Dominion power generating facilities. Travel is required and some will be overnight up to a week or more. A technician III will also be expected to perform major repair of EMSG and station equipment and systems, perform test development and protocol writing, writing of SOPs, managing projects, and performing as the Site Lead. They should also be capable of filling in for the Field Lead in his absence, as needed. The Tech. III may also be assigned as a project manager, or administrative and special tasks as needed to maintain smooth operations within the EMSG. A Tech. III will be required to be a qualified individual for the testing in which they lead or perform, and will be required to possess or obtain certification by passing the testing of Groups 1,2, 3, and 4 tests within 6 months of hire as listed under the Source Evaluation Society site located at:
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
5 yrs. direct CEMS auditing experience required.
The technician will be required to be a qualified individual for the testing which they lead or perform and will schedule testing activities, perform as Team Leads and/or members, act as a compliance test observer of contract personnel, and be able to understand, compile, and quality assure data and reports.
The technician will have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair various complex major and minor Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and EMSG equipment and monitoring systems.
Electrical and/or mechanical aptitude required. Ability to work on tall stacks at a height of 300 feet or more is required. Ability to climb up a stack to a height of 200 feet or more and to climb down a stack from any height is also required.
Capable of lifting up to 80 lbs. independently. Algebra level math skills required.
