Must have completed at least 30 hours of college coursework
Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher
Currently enrolled as a full time student
Have reached the age of 18 years old
May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position, access requirements and essential job functions

Intern will develop an understanding of the assigned Technology and Innovation (T&I) business unit, as it relates to its functional purpose and will learn standard work, strategies, philosophies, programs, and initiatives within the organization.
T&I Business Units include:
Digital Solutions– Digital Solutions includes Product Delivery, Technology Strategy, Technology Change Management, Standards, Innovation Network, and Digital Transformation. This group works with business partners across TVA to develop and deliver the TVA computing systems and technologies used to serve the people of the Valley. In addition to the development and execution of digital roadmaps and product plans, this team develops and manages technology standards, ensures effective change management, manages metrics, upskills and supports the enterprise with self-service tools and capabilities, and researches innovation opportunities. They are developing Digital Centers of Excellence and an Innovation Incubator, both of which should be operational by late 2021.
Infrastructure & Operations- The Infrastructure & Operations team provides hardware & software that TVA businesses use to generate and maintain reliable power across the Tennessee Valley. I&O also supports, carefully evaluates, and troubleshoots TVA's computer systems and applications to ensure they continue to run reliably and effectively. Some functions of I&O include the T&I Help Desk, field service and support for all TVA nuclear, fossil, coal, hydro and gas plants, DevOps, cloud computing, IT Commons (Walk-up help center), and computer risk remediation and mitigation.
Cybersecurity- The TVA Cybersecurity organization has many diverse career opportunities that support strengthening the reliability, availability and resilience of TVA’s electronic and information based assets. These functions include - Incident Response, Strategy and Risk Management, Assessments and Testing, Authorization and Outreach, Operational Security and Compliance, Privacy, Threat Intelligence and Systems and Services.
Technology Portfolio Management- The Technology Portfolio Management organization includes T&I Portfolio Optimization, the T&I Project Management Office, T&I Work Management, and T&I Vendor Management and Origination. The functions of these groups include management of T&I’s cash flows and resource capacity, development of technology agreements for T&I products and services, vendor relationship and performance management, management of technology investments, and execution of technology projects.
Example duties include:
Becoming familiar with the TVA business, organization, key decision makers, T&I processes and procedures
Interacting with the T&I leaders and team members while learning the key components that drive T&I strategic direction.
Develops working knowledge of critical T&I functions including: T&I Digital Solutions, Cybersecurity, T&I Infrastructure & Operations, and T&I Portfolio Management.
Leverages technical expertise applied with business acumen to support business partner T&I needs.
Learns to apply policies and procedures across the organizations; to recommend continuous improvement changes in support of business needs, and to proactively develop understanding of policies, procedures, and culture and communicate these to new and existing employees.
Seeking majors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business and other related majors.
Position Locations: Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, Huntsville, Memphis and virtual options available
Salary dependent on hours completed in school but ranges from $21.00 (sophomores) to $27.00 (graduate students) per hour.
