This is the third level of the IT Telecom Analyst classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in Telecom areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve.
This position is a fixed term role that will last approximately 1 year.
Work with engineering and support teams to ensure documentation is in place, alarming capabilities are properly enabled, asset system information is updated and change impact is properly documented and approved.
Work with Engineering Teams on project costs, resource and scheduling efforts.
Provides technical oversight to a variety of vendors performing telecom work. This work list included installation of structured cabling, fiber splicing, communications tower work and general civil work performed at Telecom locations.
Provide some on-sight leadership and technical support for the construction teams that install the various Telecommunications equipment.
Performs related activities as directed. Manages personal self-development and maintains current knowledge of the industry to leverage more effective or emerging technologies
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university OR; 10 years of equivalent work related experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 5 years of job related experience
General knowledge of Duke Energy’s core business.
Superior problem solving and analytical skills
Expert working knowledge of the telecommunications systems & associated safety policies, practices, and work procedures
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability and willingness to share information and transfer knowledge to others
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with various disciplines
Ability to work self directed and be a team player
Experience with service providers used by the Duke Telecommunications department
Experience with Corporate Inventory System (EMAX)
Experience with I/T Problem Dispatch and Change Management System (PICASSO)
Experience with Corporate Documentation System (Fusion)
