The Civil Engineering and Layout group performs structural design and analysis for Nuclear Utilities and other Energy Sector clients. Typical projects include design and analysis for Nuclear Plant modifications as well as new designs for small modular reactors. Main activities are design and analysis of structures (including steel and concrete structures), piping and pipe supports, as well as dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and components.


Assist in Civil Engineering activities including research of design basis information in utility databases, as well as preparation of engineering calculations and analytical modeling of structures, piping systems & supports under the supervision and mentorship of qualified engineers.

Various Engineer of Choice projects as well as new design projects for Small Modular Reactor clients.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this temporary Intern opportunity.

· High School Graduate working toward a BS in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering with at least four semesters completed by start of internship

· Strong academic performance

· Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ability to search databases and download results

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Available to begin internship by May 29, 2018

· Willing to work internship in Charlotte, NC

The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.

· Ability to use CAD software,

· Experience with structural modeling software such as STRUDL, ANSYS, LS DYNA, AutoPIPE
