Duke Energy Renewables Electrical Engineering Group offers qualified students, in accredited engineering programs leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree, the opportunity to work in various areas of engineering support as part of the engineering cooperative program. Duke Energy Renewables builds, owns, operates, and maintains wind and solar electric generating facilities throughout the United States outside of the Duke Energy regulated utility service area. Engineering co-ops will work in support of staff engineers or under supervision of engineers providing electrical engineering support of these activities to ultimately ensure safe and reliable operation of these assets.This co-op position is open for students pursuing a degree in undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering. In addition to working within your discipline, you may be asked to work across a multi-engineering discipline platform.Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a four year degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited college or university

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

  • Valid drivers license

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work a minimum of two non-contiguous co-op sessions

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrates ability to provide the quantity and quality of work necessary to reach an accomplishment

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities through effective decision making

  • Works effectively with others from diverse backgrounds to achieve a common goal

  • Ability to deliver superior results within an allocated time though effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work

  • Demonstrates tenacity by remaining persistent in the face of adversity

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in the use of computers, software, and engineering applications

  • Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry

  • Previous engineering work experience

Specific Requirements

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.
