Alliant Energy Instructional Designer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
You will support the design/creation, delivery and direction of current and future instructional design (e-learning, classroom, and other delivery modes) in order to advance the objectives of the company..
You will engage key partners to conduct needs analysis and define requirements for learning programs and tools across the organization.
You will ensure instructional design is aligned with adult education best practices; analyze current trends, industry direction, and adult learning theory to help support the overall strategy.
You will deliver training solutions to close performance gaps and address development needs of the business, including programs related to leadership and supervisory skills, team development, competencies, customer relations skills, diversity, interviewing skills, and other non-technical areas as needed.
You will provide instructional skills support, on an advisory basis, for technical trainers.
You will use customer feedback and content analytics to inform future training investments and day- to-day improvements.
You will create and maintain resources and tools for the department for marketing of training and development solutions.

Alliant Energy is seeking a creative individual with a passion for designing and outstanding learner experience to join our team! In this exciting and newly created role as Instructional Designer you will begin working on a remote basis and be based out of either our Madison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IA office. You will design, develop and deliver self-paced and live-virtual, training and employee development solutions and programs that drive organizational objectives. As an experienced development professional, you will consult with our Learning and Development Manager, Performance Management Manager and leaders to design engaging and innovative learning experiences that drive the desired performance improvement and development at the individual and group/team levels.

Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in adult learning, instructional design, education, behavioral sciences, organizational development, business or a related discipline
5 years progressively responsible professional experience in training, employee development, instructional design, organization design and/or performance improvement consulting.
Expertise in developing and executing education programs that ensure translation of education into action; promote learner involvement; and demonstrate innovative coaching skills when managing education and development issues.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to consult effectively with managers and employees at various levels of the organization.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Demonstrated competency in needs assessment, instructional design, training and development implementation, team development skills, performance measurement and evaluation and the use of adult learning principles.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with moderate guidance or direction.
Effective critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, resilience and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment and present to a diverse audience.
Comfortable with at least one self-paced development tool such as Storyline, Captivate or Lectora
Comfortable deploying learning content in a Learning Management System
