Your Impact at SAM

The Senior Systems Administrator will be a member of the IT team and will be focused on the day to day operation and maintenance of SAM servers, applications and data presentation.

  • Provide technical support and consultation for the server environment to IT staff, business analysts, vendors and users as necessary

  • Plan, implement and maintain the server and storage environment

  • Schedule installs and upgrades in accordance with established IT policies and procedures

  • Monitor and tune the systems to achieve optimum performance levels including providing input for capacity planning and long term strategic planning

  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers and storage to ensure compliance with established IT standards, policies and configuration guidelines

  • Instruct and help develop less experienced Server Administrators and other technical staff where appropriate

  • On a scheduled basis, provide 24x7 on-call support for break/fix issues, respond according to established on-call procedures

  • Monitor incident, change and problem SLA metrics

  • Assume responsibility for projects and provide direction and feedback for team members through successful completion

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals

What You Bring to SAM

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Technology or job experience related equivalence

  • 6 to 8 years’ experience in managing servers and storage with demonstrated experience in maintaining systems in a secure data center environment

  • Successful as a key contributor in at least 5 large projects

  • Large projects are defined as having more than 5 participants or a budget of over $250k or a timeline of 4 months or longer

  • Personally responsible for the build, implementation and maintenance of over 75 servers

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Experience with VMware, KVM or HyperV virtualization platforms

  • Personally responsible for the build, implementation and maintenance of over 100 terabytes of storage

  • Experience with either iSCSI, FCoE or Fiber Channel storage area network technologies

Certifications and/or Licensing Requirements

  • MCSE preferred

  • Virtualization certification preferred

  • ITIL foundations certification preferred

  • Any other technology certifications a plus
