MidAmerican Energy Company Maintenance Supervisor in Calipatria, California
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and schedule the daily work activities of the maintenance department. Responsible for deployment of welding, machining and valve departments and monitoring quality of work being performed. Responsible for the all welding, in house and outside contractors, maintaining up to date welding procedures and qualifications. Adhere to, support, and enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
Primarily responsible for specific craft discipline including development of personnel and implementation of technology.
Supervises the work of employees that perform work on the operating facilities, vessels and pipelines. Optimizes the use of all outside contractors.
Responsible to schedule the day-to-day activities of direct reports, working closely with all planners and maintenance supervisors to optimize resources. (
Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance documentation.
Sets consistent repair procedures across the regions.
Provides input into major overhaul planning/scheduling, contract services, and project activities.
Works with the plant staff and the warehouse supervisor coordinator to optimize spare part’s inventory.
Assists in preparing annual capital and expense budgets.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); five or more years related experience in power plant operations or power generation; five years supervisory experience including professional training; completion of Technical Training Certification Program or equivalent education and experience. Must possess strong leadership skills in order to prioritize, plan and schedule work within all of the maintenance departments so that a safe, efficient plan can be put into place. Knowledge of applicable government regulations. Proficient knowledge of PC software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing and database.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, procedures, regulations, blue-prints, schematics, piping and instrumentation diagram. Capability of writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, the general public and employees at all levels. Competent in giving oral and written instruction that is understandable by all subordinates.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical process control and fundaments of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Able to conceptualize and develop creative alternatives to problem resolutions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete concepts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds. The position also requires one to be able to climb ladders and steps as high as 60 feet. One must be able to withstand temperatures varying from 400fto 1200ferenheitfor long periods of time. Often times it is required to enter a confined area and climb to heights and get into difficult to access areas of vessels.
At times the employee is required to sit for long periods of time, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl and stoop. The individual is required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee will be utilizing all of the sensory perceptions such as touch, taste, feel, hearing and seeing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
