Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, execute, implement, and enforce Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and General Construction (GC) contracts

  • Obtain and close permits and approvals (whether through contractors or directly)

  • Manage construction compliance with Engineering Designs and Quality Control standards

  • Where necessary, field supervision of labor, civil, mechanical, and electrical trades

  • Coordination of utility interconnection and system energization, including inspections and approvals

  • Commissioning and Closeout of projects

  • Implementation, Enforcement and Reporting of project Health, Safety and Security program plans, practices, and objectives

  • Create and update project milestone schedules and schedule adherence reports

  • Budget Verification and Reporting

  • Coordination of equipment and material procurement and delivery

  • Project recordkeeping, daily reports, Material Purchase Orders and delivery tracking

  • Schedule and attend all municipal and utility company inspections

  • Schedule and attend all customer and contractor meetings

  • Manage and resolve issues that occur during the project timeline

  • Coordinate and assist Safari Client Representatives

  • Identify and implement process improvements related to plans, specifications, standards and installation agreements with the goal of continuous improvement

  • Establish, maintain, and improve relationships with contractors, suppliers and installation trades

  • Work to identify best practices, opportunities for value engineering, and simplification

  • Identify opportunities to continuously reduce cost

Position Summary:

As a member of the Operations team, the Solar Project Manager will report to the Regional Director of Construction. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful management of complex commercial-scale solar projects from early in the project timeline (pre-construction planning) to final closeout. The Project Manager will ensure projects are completed according to the approved plans and approvals, within the allotted schedule and budget, and successfully commissioned and closed. He or she will serve as the Owner or Customer representative and carry out the duties required by the EPC contract. The Project Manager is expected to manage up to ten active projects in construction simultaneously while assisting other departments with projects in pre-construction or final interconnection and closeout. He or she will participate in feasibility assessments for new potential projects and plan reviews for assigned projects; Ensure jobsite Safety and Code compliance; Contribute to discussions on material selection and specifications and collaborate with all internal departments to facilitate successful projects. The successful candidate will be required to do frequent short-term travel to project locations regionally or nationally.

The Project Manager will receive support and guidance from various functional groups to include Pre-Construction and Project Controls, Project Development, Engineering, and the Directors of Construction. However, the Project Manager retains primary responsibility for fulfillment of the duties listed below and overall project success. The ability to work independently and as a team member are critical, as well as the desire and innovative mind set to operate as an important contributor within a fast-pace, early-stage company environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related industry experience

• 5-10+ years of industry related Construction Project Management

• Strong working knowledge of project planning, scheduling and budgeting processes and tools

• Familiarity with Electrical Systems, Civil Construction, and/or Roofing systems is a plus

• Ability to travel 50% of time or more to project locations regionally or nationally
