SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Technical Delivery Lead is an integral part of the Business Technology Team playing a key role in digitally transforming how we do business. The successful candidate has a passion for leading cross-functional teams to creatively solve business problems by delivering optimized technology solutions. The Technical Delivery Lead stays current with technology trends, platforms, agile project management, and performs the required technical research and due diligence to recommend the use of new technology capabilities. This is an active, hands-on role providing challenging opportunities to apply and expand one's technical delivery leadership experience.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with Business and Technology leadership to deliver technology solutions according to vision, roadmap, and strategy

  • Balance the needs of addressing technical debt with delivering technical innovation

  • Facilitate selection, planning, and scoping of custom developed and COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) technology solutions

  • Define technical design with system architects and product support teams focusing on scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, supportability and agility

  • Work with Technology leadership and team members to transition to a more agile delivery method

  • Responsible for technical delivery execution incorporating agile principles; depending on project/program size, may oversee or perform the following activity types:

  • Prioritize product backlog with new features and defect corrections according to business value and technical feasibility

  • Write artifacts to facilitate and drive implementation activities: user stories, data mapping, process flows, design documents, test plans/acceptance criteria, deployment plans, training documentation, product support plans and other artifacts as needed

  • Define sprints with team members to deliver promised value within scope, schedule, and cost and to expected standards

  • Ensure the volume and sequence of work flowing to the delivery team optimizes team performance and maximizes value delivered

  • Collaborate with other technical delivery leads to identify dependencies and align on release plans

  • Anticipate and address risks and issues

  • Conduct stand-up meetings with delivery team to ensure progress and identify and clear blockers

  • Communicate delivery progress to stakeholders

  • Provide performance feedback to team members' administrative leaders

  • Conduct retrospective meetings identifying continuous improvement opportunities

  • Research, embrace and champion industry trends for implementation methodologies, enterprise application platforms, integrations, data and reporting

  • Travel up to 20%

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record

  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate solid oral and written communication skills

  • A Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business or related field

  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI ACP) may be applicable certification, but not required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical solution delivery or related technical project management experience

  • Demonstrable ability to translate business needs into requirements in a digital / written format allowing development teams to align behind the product vision

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, relationship-building and collaboration skills at all levels, including experience working in cross-functional teams

  • Experience with multiple digital platforms (web, enterprise applications, integrations, data and reporting) and practical experience with integrated execution

  • Experience in software engineering and design architecture (on premise, cloud, and hybrid experience a plus)

  • Experience working with imbedding security best practices and data confidentiality in all levels of development

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience as a change agent, engaging at multiple levels of an organization

  • Experience using a range of project management techniques (waterfall, iterative, and agile)

  • Experience in balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity
