SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The Business Applications Technologist position is an integral part of the Business Technology Team and is primarily focused on assisting with the development of new as well as provide ongoing support for Enterprise Applications at NorthWestern Energy. Passion, curiosity, and drive to learn about using technology to benefit our business is key to this position.
This individual will function as the primary liaison between the business, technology and external business partners for project or process improvement requirements. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to provide superior Customer Liaison and technical support as it relates to the overall business strategy and needs of the customer.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong desire and aptitude to understand current technology trends in software, cloud, cybersecurity and automation to apply them to NorthWestern Energy's business processing needs.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. In addition, the successful candidate must be a self-starter who pursues self-education, is customer focused, supports the organization's goals and values, and is willing to work extended hours as necessary.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information

Undertake complex projects involving multiple disciplines that may impact multiple business units
Strong customer service skills required to develop positive customer, team and leadership relationships to facilitate Business Technology business partnerships.
Interact with stakeholders to identify problems and develop requirements for solutions
Implement, enhance and support application solutions
Demonstrate an enthusiasm for technology, streamlining business processes and introducing new automation.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills to evaluate/troubleshoot complex issues
Effectively and efficiently organize, plan, execute and coordinate multiple work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates
Driven to help the business protect assets through adoption and employment of NorthWestern Energy cybersecurity policies, tools, and practices
Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college in associated discipline such as Computer Science or Business and Information Technology. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may also be considered.
Proficient using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
General knowledge of Windows Operating systems, servers, networks, security, and business continuity practices preferred
Strong organization skills to coordinate workload and employee development
Strong written/oral communication and documentation skills
Some travel will be required
SAP experience and knowledge of Utility operations a definite plus

Tolerate frequent sitting and standing at the work station and performing computer use
See, walk, climb and balance, reach with hands and arms, sit, stoop, kneel, crawl and crouch 1/3 of the time.
Stand, sit and use hands to type, finger, handle or feel will be required more than 2/3 of the time as well as being able to talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
Lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally
Perform safe driving in varying conditions
Travel with a laptop computer and other necessary training peripherals
Take laptop home each night for disaster recovery purposes
Use office equipment properly
