SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

The position, BASIS Administrator / Data Center Technologist, is an integral part of the Business Technology Team. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to provide support for Northwestern Energy's SAP system, database, and infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include support of virtual server infrastructure, backup/recovery system, and data center facilities.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics

  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives

  • Execute BASIS administration functions for NorthWestern Energy's SAP environment

  • Technical configurations including interfaces, profile parameters, and printing

  • SAP software maintenance including planning, installations, upgrades, and patching

  • Monitoring SAP application performance and stability

  • Change management and transport execution

  • SAP database administration including both Oracle and HANA

  • Coordination and management of SAP-related projects

  • Responsible for SAP backup/recovery/DR architecture and administration.

  • Cyclical patching of servers and infrastructure components.

  • Administration of virtual infrastructure

  • Employee will be expected to participate in an on-call rotation and work extended hours as necessary.

  • Some travel will be required

  • Adhere to Northwestern Energy's Professional Knowledge Worker Competencies.

  • Comply with internal controls, policies, practices, procedures, and standards.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college with some related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute BASIS tasks including technical configurations, SAP software maintenance, system performance tuning, and SAP database administration.

  • Experience with HANA preferred

  • Strong technical understanding of SAP ERP systems

  • Experience with technical project management.

  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server operating systems.

  • Fundamental understanding of virtual infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, and applications.

  • Fundamental knowledge of data center processes including backup/recovery, OS patching, and monitoring.

  • Fundamental understanding of security requirements and architecture.

  • Fundamental understanding of enterprise networking in a Microsoft environment is preferred, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.

  • Fundamental understanding of the software development lifecycle is preferred.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to changing responsibilities and priorities.

  • Must be able to continually learn and acquire new technical skills and knowledge.

  • Must have strong organizational skills

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
