National Grid Senior Supervisor, Gas Field Operations in Brooklyn, New York

This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business. ## Job Purpose To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with Company and Regulatory requirements. ## Key Accountabilities + Ensure that all welding policies and procedures are being followed by both National Grid and contractor welders. Communicate any updates and changes to welding related policies and procedures. + Supervise welding operations within the National Grid Downstate service territory, as well as supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks. + Work with Learning and Development to qualify National Grid and contractor welders. Responsible for ensuring internal compliance of 6 month requalification’s and annual spot checks. + Coordinate welding resources to support Field Operations, Construction and CMS. Work closely with other regions to ensure coverage and adequate available resources are available when needed. + Participate in Resource Planning, Project Management, and Reliability meetings to effectively communicate program related constraints and construction capabilities. + Effectively interface with internal and external customers, while responding to the needs of the operating areas and supporting Resource Planning’s annual work plan. + Protect the safety of the public, company property, and personnel through monitoring and enforcement of work rules, standards, and procedures. Responsible for workplace safety and ensure safe working conditions are maintained through field inspection of work sites and equipment. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and/or related work experience will be considered. Prior leadership experience with a focus on Gas Construction and Gas Field Operations is a plus. CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) preferred. Technical knowledge of distribution system, engineering, construction and maintenance practices. Knowledge of federal, state and municipal codes. Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Working knowledge of company computer programs such as SAP, Powerplant, Maximo a plus. Applicant must exhibit proven supervisory skills and ability to work effectively with others in a team environment is necessary. The candidate must posses an exceptional safety record, strong oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to maximize performance of subordinates. Solid planning and organizing skills are required. Able to travel throughout the service territory and work extended hours and weekends (in emergency situations) as needed. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Minimum of 3 years welding / gas construction related experience. Must be well versed in: Gas construction work methods. Gas welding safety.
