This requires us to deliver on our promises and always look for new opportunities to grow, both ourselves and our business. ## Job Purpose The Engineer, Instrumentation & Regulation (I&R) position provides engineering expertise and technical support associated with the operation and maintenance of National Grid’s gas transmission and distribution gas facilities. This position will also be responsible for preparing operational engineering deliverables for projects containing technical scope, project schedules, and project estimates as well as evaluation of technical alternatives. ## Key Accountabilities • Provide engineering support of I&R’s operation, maintenance and inspection practices to ensure compliance with applicable mandated Federal and State regulations as well as company policies and procedures • Perform the engineering and design of small scale gas distribution/transmission regulating facilities, large metering, gate station, as well as Instrument & Control and CNG projects • Generate and track work orders, and their expenditures, as well as perform timely close outs and submission of documentation to fixed assets and the records center • Identify, specify and procure required materials as well as any necessary contractor services • Prepare project specifications, design drawings/schematics and develop procedures and technical documents • Identify and acquire the necessary permits, licenses, and easements associated with the project • Participate in the development of design layout, scope, cost estimate, SOP and PHA for all Project Engineering & Design (PE&D) and Pressure Regulating Engineering (PRE) projects. • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Company standards and procedures, PSC Code requirements, OSHA, and municipal rules and regulations • Assist with the development, review and update of applicable company design standards and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements • Proactively make changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes and training for I&R • Must be able to travel and work beyond normal working hours including nights/holidays/weekends for emergencies or other special events ## Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline is required and 2+ years of related engineering or design experience • Project management experience preferred • Gas utility or energy industry experience preferred.
