Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • The Senior Specialist will provide asset and life cycle management technology support for Central Operations assets. The Senior Specialist will develop and manage equipment health indexes as part of a comprehensive condition-based maintenance program. She/he will be responsible for the daily review of asset health data to verify data is being collected, validate its accuracy, and work with subject matter experts to determine if any corrective action is warranted. The Senior Specialist is responsible to identify any problems and potentially resolve any problems with condition-based maintenance communications, database, and/or analytical tools. He/she will work with subject matter experts to develop methodologies to assess equipment health and will create or procure analytical tools and systems necessary to implement these methodologies. The Senior Specialist is responsible for creating reports or reporting mechanisms to communicate equipment health to subject matter experts and key stakeholders.

  • Create, maintain, and publish equipment health indexes for Central Operations assets.

  • Monitor equipment health data streams to ensure communications, data storage, analysis, and reporting features function properly. Initiate corrective action for any identified problems.

  • Develop and implement automated reports, performance indicators, metrics, queries, and databases to track and improve equipment health and reliability.

  • Conduct database maintenance such as performance monitoring and tuning, back-up, and recovery. Integrate databases and data sets to enhance data value and accuracy.

  • Troubleshoot application failures including performance and database connectivity problems, business logic, and job failures.

  • Evaluate technological advancements and investigate the feasibility of applying new techniques, methods, hardware/software, and wireless solutions. This includes field testing of equipment and software.

  • Support R&D projects associated with asset monitoring and condition assessment.

  • Will perform other related tasks as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline (Engineering, Math and Sciences, Computer Science, Business Administration, etc) and 4 years full time experience in a technical field (Engineering or related) or Operations (Gas, Steam, Electric, etc) - SENIOR SPECIALIST (2L) or

  • Master's Degree in a related discipline (Engineering, Math and Sciences, Computer Science, Business Administration, etc) and 2 years full time work experience in a technical field (Engineering or related) or Operations (Gas, Steam, Electric, etc) - SENIOR SPECIALIST (2L)

Relevant Work Experience

  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must understand the maintenance and operation of power generation and/or transmission equipment.

  • Must be well-organized, proficient problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions.

  • Must be able to utilize mathematical, statistical, or scientific methods to extract insights from data.

  • Must be able to clearly communicate and illustrate the meaning of data analysis to decision-makers and stakeholders at every level of technical knowledge and understanding.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with various groups to coordinate projects.

  • Must have knowledge of condition-based maintenance, predictive maintenance technologies, and component health reporting.

  • Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in supporting the Corporate values.

  • Must have the ability to work effectively with other employees in a cross-departmental platform.

  • Ability to read drawings to identify equipment.

  • Requires computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience using MS Access, Maximo, OSi PI, and web page development and design.

  • Experience with computer coding to perform data analysis.

  • Experience writing computer code and developing applications to analyze data.

  • Experience configuring software tools to monitor equipment health and provide automated alerts of detected anomalies.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be willing and able to travel within Company service territory, as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to walk extensively and climb as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.
