Cook Nuclear Plant is seeking Qualified Nuclear Professionals for potential openings in the following Departments:
- Electrical Maintenance
Ideal candidates will have experience in the areas of battery testing, switchgear maintenance, high/low voltage terminations and troubleshooting experience.
Perform skilled and technical work of a skilled nature in connection with electric, mechanical and electronic systems including reactor plant equipment, to aid in the successful operation and performance of plant equipment. Work with others to correct / troubleshoot malfunctions and defects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
Locate and repair defects in systems involving electrical, solid state, electronic, or mechanical components using elementary, wiring, schematic and control diagrams.
Assist with the set up and connect testing devices and perform tests as required by procedures on equipment such as batteries, motor operated valves, turbine generator, motor controllers and their associated buses, circuit breakers, low and high voltage cables, rod drive trip and bypass breakers, and alternator and exciter.
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and diagnostically test motor operated valve actuators, limit and torque switches.
Perform electrical work such as preparing/making electrical connections and splices on all types of circuits and cables.
Support with the location and repair undefined faults or those not indicated by procedural inspection occurring in electrical apparatus such as Air Circuit Breakers, rectifiers, generators and transformers.
Assist with the calculation of power and power factor for three phase circuits. Use and interpret various electrical test equipment.
Assist engineers/others in root cause determination of equipment and component failures, and in preparation of data for engineering studies.
Assist in the calculation of cable size and load requirements necessary to be able to install and connect temporary power required to operate temporary equipment and trailers.

Education requirements are listed below:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical training.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
- Two years' experience as Electrician C plus three years of related electrical work experience. Specific knowledge of nuclear standards and nuclear policies, practices and procedures relating to plant operations. Strong interpersonal skills.

Work location will include outdoors, and therefore subject to weather conditions.
Successful completion of the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) test is required for this position. Perform layout work and layout conduit. Operate power and hand tool to assemble and disassemble devices for repair.
Comply with Technical Specifications, ANSI Standards, NE Codes, ASME and National Electrical Manufacturers Association requirements.
Train and instruct new and lower level employees.
Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization, HAZMAT response organization, and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.
Perform all duties, and work with others in a safe manner, in compliance with appropriate company safety policies and rules.
Assume responsibility for continuously upgrading of knowledge and skill.
Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC.
