Responsibilities

o Belonging to the Foundations Department and reporting to the Department Manager, the Foundation Design Engineer will be responsible for defining and implementing robust and cost-effective engineering strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing $multi-million offshore foundation design, managing multiple consultants and associated interfaces, defining company and business engineering standards and technical acceptance criteria, and ensuring quality, best practices and excellent HSE performance are applied.

o Foundation Design Engineer will support the delivery, development, and construction of offshore wind projects, focusing on performing and reviewing offshore structural/geotechnical designs.

o Provide design guidance and technical verification of the turbine foundations and electrical service platform foundations. The candidate shall have (1) extensive experience in offshore foundation design particularly monopile and jacket design (2) significant knowledge and experience of planning, managing and executing offshore foundation design contracts, and design management, program management, cost and risk control.

Skills and Requirements

o The candidate technical shall have a Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering degree (or equivalent), at least 5 years of experience in industry, and ideally professional engineer/chartered status.

o Be responsible for reviewing/approving all foundation design deliverables, including design basis, site condition assessment, GIR, primary structures design (e.g. ULS, FLS, SLS & Driving Fatigue, Accidental Ship Impact, FEA geotechnical, driveability assessment), secondary steel design (e.g. external platform and boat landing support, Anode cage), Load Iteration Process, and relevant deliverables for O&M and T&I packages.

o Produce definition of employer's requirements and technical specifications, guidance inputs for the design, fabrication, transportation, and installation phases of the structures.

o Act as tender, project and program manager for large offshore foundation design contracts ensuring delivery on time and within budget of high-quality input to all packages.

o Support the certification process with independent verification bodies to reduce design risk and enhance asset value.

o Maintenance and communication of foundation risk register.

o Provide expert advice and guidance on optimized design and installation methodologies for offshore foundations. This shall include an appropriate level of input into future prospects / program strategies / engineering strategies / risk levels and commercial agreements relative to $multi-million, multi-disciplinary, multi-contract work packages.

o Act as a key team member within the project(s) with high level of demand on the foundation design perspective, making key judgments, decisions and recommendations.

o Support Development team on establishing robust business cases for future projects and design strategies.

o Maintain full awareness of the latest technical and commercial developments and identify that has the potential to reduce cost and risk and improve safety.

o Ensure lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm development and construction are captured and shared across the different projects. Establish the right mechanisms for this process and ensure that the engineering team implements them to enhance business value.
