Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Tax Analyst or Senior to join our Corporate Tax team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Tax Analyst do for us?

Under general direction, the Tax Analyst prepares tax-related compliance filings, workpapers, transaction analysis, and accounting entries on behalf of Idaho Power Company and IDACORP.

What does a Senior Tax Analyst do for us?

The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for independently managing a range of tax-related tasks including the preparation of financial and regulatory reports, compliance filings, workpapers, analysis of transactions, forecasting, accounting, and the processing of income tax payments for Idaho Power and IDACORP. This role also entails developing tax positions, conducting general tax researching and undertaking special projects as needed. REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of:

  • Federal and state statutes

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Tax research tools and authoritative guidance sources (e.g. CCH, BNA, IRC, Treasury Regulations)

  • General ledger accounting

  • ASC 740 (accounting and reporting for income taxes)

  • Identification of permanent and temporary book-to-tax differences

  • Earnings and profits accounting

  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley Sec. 404 internal control procedures

  • The principles of consolidation necessary for filing federal and state returns including the flow of a corporate tax return and how the forms are interrelated

  • State apportionment factors

Skills in:

  • Effective oral and written communication, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Organization, prioritization, and time management

  • Excel, Word, query tools and tax software

  • Workpaper referencing techniques

  • Analyzing financial data for trends and anomalies

  • Devising innovative solutions to process-related issues or application of tax law

Ability to:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Tax Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in business taxation

Preferred:

  • 3 years public accounting tax experience with emphasis in business taxation

  • Regulated utility accounting or tax experience

Senior Tax Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in business income taxation (compliance, accounting, financial reporting) with specific emphasis in corporate taxation

Preferred:

  • 5 years public accounting tax experience in business and corporate taxation

  • Income tax accounting and financial reporting

  • Tax areas other than income tax

  • Leadership/supervisory role

  • Regulated utility accounting or tax experience

  • Preferred Licenses & Certifications: CPA License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
