The position is responsible for providing support to meet corporate and business unit goals and objectives and performing Southern Accounts Payable activities in support of financial reporting and ensuring compliance with financial controls, policies, procedures and applicable laws that govern our business. The AP functions include but are not limited to invoice and check processing, PCard and business expense statement administration and audits, 1099/1042 reporting, and administration of AP internal controls. The candidate should possess overall knowledge of utility accounting and superior analytical/problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of GAAP, FERC, budget concepts and accounting principles
Supports AP Management in providing full customer support to all internal and external customers of the Company, to include suppliers, tax authorities, auditors and other employees.
Able to analyze data and determine proper accounting treatment.
Ensure all identified key controls are operating effectively and maintain appropriate documentation for quarterly and annual reporting.
Provide analysis, research and out-of-the-box thinking to identify potential efficiencies and process improvements within the department.
Assist with responding to data requests from auditors, PSC, rate case filings, etc.
Identify opportunities for efficiencies and support cost containment initiatives to meet budgetary requirements.
Special projects and requests as determined by AP Management.
Communicate professionally with all internal and external customers.
- BS Degree required. Accounting and/or Finance degree preferred

Exposure to Oracle, Maximo, Inspyrus, or related applications

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
