Natural Rural Electric Cooperative Consultant, Risk Management in Arlington, Virginia
Responsible for the planning, analysis, project management, administration, reporting and monitoring of NRECA’s insurance portfolio and other enterprise-wide risks. Performs risk mapping analysis to ensure risks are adequately mitigated through strategic management of policy renewals to protect NRECA’s complex business lines. Serves as the main point of contact with insurance brokers, underwriters, and staff regarding policy coverage and managing claims. Leads teams, to develop, implement and test controls for critical enterprise risks: business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR), records retention management and other enterprise-wide risks as requested.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies NRECA’s risk exposures, evaluates insurance policies to mitigate defined risks and maintains, enhances and procures insurance policies.
Prepares insurance policy applications (25+ annually) and supporting documentation by required deadlines in consultation with a variety of teams.
Works with insurance brokers to strategically market and negotiate NRECA’s insurance program to ensure appropriate policy limits, insurance costs are competitive and the policies terms, conditions and exclusions are favorable.
Performs annual gap-analysis with the insurance broker to evaluate NRECA’s insurance program strategically, identifying any emerging risks and to identify potential gaps in coverage.
Serves as the central point of contact for all insurance questions, including coverage, exclusions, and claims with the contract legal team and the insurance broker.
Provides necessary coordination and action in filing timely notice of claims with insurance companies and providing appropriate information and answering requests to and from insurance claim examiners.
Prepares and presents insurance coverage information at board meetings.
Develops insurance budgets, including detailed cost center analysis and pays all insurance invoices.
Subject matter expert who provides tools, guidance and training to NRECA departments to administer enterprise risks and insurance claims.
Collaborates and oversees the development, implementation and testing of BC/DR plans for NRECA, including serving as the liaison with Information Technology.
Writes reports summarizing testing activities, including descriptions of goals, planning, scheduling, execution, results, analysis, conclusion and recommendations and presents to NRECA management for review and decisions.
Schedules and performs periodic risk assessments along with business impact analysis (BIA) for BCP/DR and presents finding to management for review and actions.
Manages and monitors NRECA’s record retention schedule to reflect current business practices and regulatory requirements.
