LOCATION: ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN
Power Originator is responsible for developing and maintaining all necessary external business relationships to generate short to long term deals. Working collaboratively with Trading, Structuring, and Physical Gas, the successful candidate will coordinate efforts to expand DTE Energy Trading’s energy management business in both fossil and renewable generation. The candidate will have experience originating and pricing structured transactions such as tolling agreements, heat rate options, unit contingent power, power offtake opportunities, etc.
Cultivate a key book of business serving as the deal maker.
Develop strategic plans for PJM, MISO, NEISO, ERCOT, NYISO
Serve as internal and external expert and sponsor in market areas of interest.
Understand legal, regulatory and structuring concepts impacting customer and market development.
Ensure all relevant internal controls are followed and develop new controls as needed.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in wholesale power markets, trading or origination.
Thorough understanding of the physical power and natural gas grid.
Understanding of financial tools available to manage risks associated with deal structures and harvesting of embedded optionality.
Demonstrated success supporting and growing a book of business
Excellent oral and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Windows based software applications, including Word and Excel.
