Inventory Management Specialist

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the inventory levels and control replenishment, and stocking levels, determining optimum ordering levels of materials maintained as inventory.

  2. Creates and maintains databases, reports, inventory related performance scorecards and ad hoc analysis as required.

  3. Assesses slow moving/obsolete inventory, recommending optimal movements, and working with business lines to disposition and financially reserve.

  4. Maintains emergent and storm stock for critical materials used in storm restoration and emergent outages.

  5. Maintain Master Data in various ERP systems including warehouse management system (WMS) on a global basis.

  6. Manage inventory physically and in our ERP to implement and put in practice cycle counts, inventory processes and inventory reconciliation processes in our ERP.

  7. Identify peak trends by item to provide recommendations to replenishment for system settings and or adjustments.

  8. Preparing weekly and monthly reports for evaluating inventory needs, ensure inventory is allocated to appropriately cover these needs.

  9. Identifies, collects, consolidates, interprets, and reports bulk data in a visual manner to establish a collective understanding of results across multiple locations and categories.

  10. Continually improve ongoing reporting, data analysis and supply planning processes, through automation and optimization

  11. Stays up to date with the latest technology and best practices.

  12. Performs other analytical activities and ad hoc reporting as required to gather insights and make recommendations.

  13. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

  14. The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Position Summary:

The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for the complex processes related to managing, analyzing, and reporting of the company's inventory levels, and financial reserve for a network of facilities and a central distribution center. This role is the central resource and subject matter expert for all matters related to inventory management, inventory control, and ERP system maintenance. The Inventory Management Specialist is an individual contributor role that provides process, analytical and transactional support requiring significant collaboration with internal and external cross functional groups. This includes sourcing, consolidating, and reporting data for pre-established and/or new deliverables, including an assessment of results that can translate to impactful tasks or areas of opportunity, crafting and communicating presentations/reports to influence various levels of an organization, identifying business opportunities, and driving continuous improvements at multiple stages within the supply chain. A successful Inventory Management Specialist is a trustworthy professional with outstanding record-keeping and analytical abilities. The optimal candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and analyze large amounts of data.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related business or technical field

  2. 7+ years of experience in Inventory Management, Data Analysis, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or similar highly analytical field

  3. Required advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and intermediate/advanced knowledge of SQL or similar.

  4. Strong analytical ability – must be able to synthesize data, be able to error check and reconcile own work and be able to design analysis to answer specific questions and provide actionable insights.

  5. Solid customer service focus with ability to build credibility and interact with all levels within the organization and handle matters professionally.

  6. Strong organizational, leadership, project management and problem-solving skills, working well autonomously and take ownership of your work.

  7. Strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written.

  8. General knowledge of transportation, logistics, supply chain, and/or finance
