Primary Responsibilities:

The Reliability Assurance Intern will work under general supervision and be responsible for moderately complex reliability assurance activities in support of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and other federal energy regulatory requirements as they relate to the PPL Electric Utilities (PPL EU) Reliability Program. The intern will participate with the Reliability Assurance group and subject matter experts to in a variety of Reliability tasks including developing best practices, assessing internal controls, assessing adherence, identifying gaps and tracking corrective actions for the NERC Reliability Program to verify the integrity, accuracy and completeness of periodic departmental reports and certifications as well as presenting material as staff meetings or training sessions. The intern will interact with various EU departments including Engineering, Asset Management, IT, and Corporate Security to share information on NERC Standards and perform reviews of procedures, controls and evidence supporting the EU NERC/FERC Reliability Program.

A PPL Intern/Cooperative Associate is a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience. Joining PPL as an intern/cooperative associate provides you with the opportunity to explore possible career opportunities along with:

  • Contributing to departmental goals

Candidate Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or Engineering from an accredited college or university program.

  • Enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours). Students may not continue as an Intern/Cooperative Associate once they have graduated.

  • Have an acceptable overall (cumulative) grade point average, not lower than 3.0.

  • Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.

  • Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.

  • 18 years of age or older.
