Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Be a critical member of the Data Governance Office and is responsible for establishing, operationalizing and sustaining a program that identifies, defines, manages and publishes data standards and policies for enterprise data assets.

  2. Responsibilities will also include the core functions of:

  • Master Data: Working with Data Owners, Product Owners and Product Engineering to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability of the enterprise's official shared master data assets. Responsibilities include: Schema mapping, Data enrichment, Data aggregation, Hierarchy management, Business semantics management, Data security & regulatory compliance

  • Information Architecture: Responsible for driving the development of data strategies and associated reference architectures and articulating the information architecture aspects for assigned core enterprise data domains. Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  1. Works with stakeholders from both technology and business to build on the Data Governance Strategy for PPL.

  2. Contribute to a positive culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements where appropriate.

  3. Collaborate with architects, business users, system analysts, developers, and ecosystem partners to bring innovative ideas from conception to launch at scale

  4. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

Position Summary:

PPL’s Data & Governance Office is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to be an integral part of the Digital Transformation. She / he is an individual who has a passion for data discovery, modeling, design, curation, interpretation, cataloging and controlling. The Data Governance Analyst will be adept with modern data platforms and a hands-on expert at mining data using complex tools and software, analyzing that data to find trends, and effectively communicating insights to stakeholders. They will need to work with stakeholders across the organization to uncover the processes that generate, transform and distribute data. The Data Governance Analyst will be the key resource in defining quality, control and metadata standards for all enterprise data assets. It’s a role that combines hard skills like SQL, data modeling and statistics with soft skills like communication, analytical thinking and problem-solving. Key to success will be working closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop the strategy for PPL’s Cloud Data Platform. The role will report to the Data Governance Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

  2. 5+ years of experience in in Data Analysis, Data Management, Data Governance and/or Data Stewardship.

  3. Experience building data catalogs and business glossaries.

  4. Experience with Collibra Data Governance Center (DGC) or a similar Data Governance platform.

  5. Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools and practices.

  6. Experience with Data Quality tools and practices.

  7. Experience harmonizing systems, processes, and/or data across business areas and functions.

  8. Experience working with business and engineering to ensure consistency, accuracy and control in the maintenance and use of data across products and systems.

  9. Experience establishing metrics/key performance indicators to measure business impact.

  10. Experience participating in or leading organizational change management initiatives.

  11. Ability to recognize and analyze data patterns and discrepancies.

  12. Show a strong sense of ownership for their deliverables.

  13. Initiative and passion for finding solutions to ambiguous problems and ability to work in difficult situations and across organizational boundaries.

  14. Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with ability to communicate or convey the results to audience at all levels.
