New York Power Authority Program Manager - Reimagine The Canals in Albany, New York


NYPA is seeking a Program Manager to support NYPA’s efforts executing economic development and operational change projects for reimagining the New York State Canal System, turning a high-level vision into an actionable and implementable plan. Reporting to the Vice President—Planning for Reimagine the Canals, the candidate is expected to guide the execution of a wide variety of programs. The Program Manager will apply project management principles and practices to projects that encompass considerable scope and complexity. The Program Manager may be responsible for the implementation and management of one or more granting programs.


  • Responsible for daily management throughout the life cycle of the program.

  • Support the stakeholders in planning and development of programs and projects.

  • Define the controls, processes, procedures, reporting, etc. to manage the programs.

  • Strategize and prioritize resources.

  • Monitor progress to ensure that the milestones are being met across the various projects and programs.

  • Manage the risks and issues that arise during the program cycle as well as take measures to correct them.

  • Manage the program budget and identify internal and external funding sources.

  • Coordinate the project(s) and their interdependencies between various projects and programs within departments or business units.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong experience as project manager of large and complex projects.

  • Broad knowledge of project and program management methodologies.

  • Understanding of the business and strategic goals.

  • Able to work with all levels of management internal and external.

  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.

  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocations.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Minimum 7 years experience in Project and/or Program Management.

  • Bachelors degree required.
