About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.{FEU}

Transmission Services Specialists are responsible for the review of right-of-way purchases, easements, and lease license agreements and their subsequent approval or denial. Personnel in this capacity also prepare bid packages for competitive bidding of contracted programs related to transmission line condition and technical results analysis; includes overall program management for follow-up remediation work activities (structure integrity, steel structure surface preparation/painting, steel grillage foundation repairs and concrete foundation repair/sealing). Perform in-depth review of proposed ATSI and MAIT transmission line condition rebuild/rehab projects, prioritize project ranking and provide detailed scope of work recommendations to the Transmission Project Management department.


  • Review requests for encroachments on company rights-of-way, the purchase of Company owned rights-of-ways, easements on Company rights-of-way and lease or license on Company rights-of-way.

  • Evaluate terms of requests to determine the present and future extent and impact on the Company.

  • Negotiate terms with requesting companies to address impact on the Company. Determine if the request should be considered with revisions or denied.

  • Interface with OPCO, Transmission Planning/Protection and Transmission Engineering personnel when developing comprehensive scope of work documentation for ATSI and MAIT EtF transmission line condition projects. Information is passed to the Transmission Project Management team for final budget review and project scheduling.

  • Provide back-up assistance to flight patrol scheduling.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to work processes.

  • Recommend and implement solutions to highly complex issues and assignments.

  • Provide assistance during emergencies and storm related activities.

  • Remain current with industry best practices, means and methods and material product lines used in all aspects of transmission line maintenance and repair work.

  • Works safely according to company policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical field is preferred

  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, minimum 10 years of experience in transmission line maintenance and/or line construction function

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert

  • In-depth understanding of company right-of-way, encroachment and lease/purchase standards

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical abilities involving moderately complex problems; exercise sound judgment.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP

  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
