About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]
The General Manager of Transmission Operations is responsible for setting the direction for the transmission control rooms and Outage Coordination across FirstEnergy.
Provides leadership and general management of the FirstEnergy transmission and sub-transmission systems to ensure safe and reliable operations
Ensuring that Outage Coordination group provides required outages while ensuring the system can still be operated reliably
Developing and implementing operational plans that align with the goals, objectives, and strategic direction of the company.
Overseeing, monitoring, and enforcing the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the group to maintain and/or improve work quality.
Ensuring compliance and industry engagement with NERC, RFC, PJM, NATF and EPRI.
Ensure that Human Performance tools are developed to prevent Human Errors that could lead to LCE or LCEP
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Two-year technical degree or Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience in control room operations
Minimum of 10 years related utility experience preferably in the areas of Transmission Operations and/or Planning
Previous Manager level experience
A highly driven, self-motivated, and enthusiastic leader capable of communicating, motivating, and driving the workforce toward positive change and process improvement.
Familiarity with NERC, ReliabilityFirst, PJM, FERC requirements that impact transmission operations.
Possesses strong communication skills capable of representing company strategy to all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
Possesses the ability to learn detailed and technical topics quickly and thoroughly.
Strong safety focus and driver of continuous improvement
Keeps a tactical, strategic focus while leading and prioritizing department initiatives.
Comfortable with making independent and critical decisions.
Demonstrates effective leadership skills in the delegation of task while maintaining disciplined processes and close follow-up.
