Summary

The Nuclear Records Technician performs receiving, scanning, converting and verifying of records to support station operations, maintenance and programs.

Ensures documents comply with current record standards.

Complies with current administrative controls, Unit Operating Licenses and other regulations and commitments.

Minimum Requirements

Nuclear Records Tech I:

High school diploma/GED. Experience using computers.

Experience working with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must complete Indoctrination within three (3) months of assuming position and specified records Job Familiarization Guides within six (6) months of assuming position. Meet requirements to enter Security protected and vital areas of the facility.

Nuclear Records Tech II:

High school diploma/GED plus three (3) years experience in records management. Experience using computers.

Experience working with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must complete Indoctrination within three (3) months of assuming position and specified records Job Familiarization Guides within six (6) months of assuming position. Meet requirements to enter Security protected and vital areas of the facility.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

Experience in records management or related field, such as customer service, administrative, human resources or education.

Experience in the nuclear industry.

Document management skills.

Experience in managing quality records and document verification.

Experience using document management software.

Fix-it-now level of knowledge within Business Objects.

Good communication skills and customer service orientation.

Nuclear requirement:

Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVNGS.

Major Accountabilities

1) Records receipt, verification, scanning and conversion of documents and indexing of records.

Handles and processes safeguards materials per program requirements.

May provide support for additional record types beyond those in initial qualification.

2) Evaluates indexing for accuracy and prepares distribution packages to ensure commitments are completed on time.

Distributes controlled documents and records including preparation for document distribution, satellite distribution and maintenance.

Responds to document distribution deficiencies or missing items by working closely with the customer to make appropriate corrections.

Complies with and utilizes the stations Corrective Action Program when appropriate.

3) Develops and maintains relationships with customers.

Supports various departments with record processing and maintenance.

Conveys program requirements and means to comply while searching for enhancements.

4) Stores and maintains records in repository.

5) Sanitizes records in various media formats for destruction and purges appropriate records based on records retention date.

6) Provides Nuclear Records Vault overview, monitoring and support.

7) Identifies areas for improvement with departmental processes and tools.

May support updating of procedures, technical documents, forms and instructions.

Participates as a team member in assigned department projects, supports various station projects as assigned.

8) May provide second-party verification of records by ensuring the basic information provided by the customer (based on record type) is accurate; this ensures data is retrievable in the future.

9) May support Disaster Recovery and Business Resumption Plan as team member.

10) May partner on records and document management-related problems.

Responds to inquiries by researching information from various sources.

11) May participate or provide support in departmental and station-wide audits and assessments as assigned.
