Job Purpose

The Principal Portfolio Manager will primarily be responsible for providing support to the Electric Capital Portfolio through the development of strategic initiatives and coordinating with stakeholders to execute annual plans as well as actively managing and reporting against the plan.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support and execute the NY Electric Capital Portfolio plan and monthly calibration processes.

  • Support regulatory and financial reporting including but not limited to: QRF submittals, Corporate Finance variance reporting, annual Business Planning, and CIP filing and reporting.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure data accuracy across a multitude of systems including Powerplan, STORMS, Future Now, SAP Etc.

  • Partner with the business, including but not limited to, Project Management, Program Management, Project Development and Transmission and Distribution Asset Management to ensure Project forecasts are accurate and aligned with budgetary targets.

  • Develop and support department KPI’s aligned to strategic priorities to track and improve performance.

  • Analyze data to identify operational trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Coordinate information sharing and learning opportunities within Work Development and Resource Management.

  • Provide analytic reporting and process development of a multitude of internal strategic improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment between current and evolving processes and underlying reporting and system capabilities.

  • Coach/Upskill other analysts in tool design/development.

  • Implement process and products for both annual planning and on-going Portfolio management.

  • Financial and resource reporting including Ad hoc reporting and data requests to support variance analysis, and CAPEX and OPEX savings initiatives.

  • Admin responsibilities to support Future-Now and Capital planning initiatives.

  • Train and develop new members on processes, products, and legacy systems.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel at all levels.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience with financial reporting or equivalent relevant experience.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business/finance/accounting and/or significant relevant experience. MBA is preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.

  • Knowledge of SAP, Powerplan, STORMS, Primevera and Business Intelligence Reporting

  • Proficient Excel skills a must, Power BI skill’s is a plus.

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

  • Communicates to the people affected by a decision on what’s happening and is able to clearly articulate reasons for a decision.

  • Ability to provide guidance and manage responsibilities/obligations at a senior management level.

  • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; organized, detail oriented, able to make independent decisions with a high degree of confidence.

  • Understanding of the operations of the electric business or the strong desire to learn.

  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Understands policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working (e.g. taking action to avoid future crisis or create opportunities to improve existing practices.)

  • Experience with successful delivery of complex projects and possess team leadership skills.

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.

  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.

  • Knowledge of power system operations, electrical and civil engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations.

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven.

  • Ability to create a high energy team climate whereby team members are able to discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. both external and internal).

  • Strong skills in: negotiations, presentation, construction management, interpersonal & written communication, and critical analysis.

  • Exhibit high personal standards of commitment and integrity.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Salary

$110,000 - $129,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
