Position overview

Leads a team responsible for designing and developing integrated Information Technology (IT) solutions (process, applications, data, and technology) for the Field Services portfolios (Transmission & Distribution Asset and Work Management). Identify current and future state business needs, conduct in depth analysis of technical issues, design or identify hardware or software solutions and present recommendations. Responsibility to perform: lead portfolio management and optimization, defining business capabilities, application rationalization, investment case management, client relationship management, business and IT strategic alignment and planning, business architecture, demand management, risk and value optimization, benefit realization plans, and communications to develop and enhance new and existing business processes with enterprise solutions that meet short-term and long-term organizational unit technology requirements. Facilitates the escalation and resolution of issues through a standard governance model for demand management and architectural development.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Business/Client relationship management to work with business partners to understand business capability and technology needs.

  • Serves as the key point of contact for IT strategy, planning, and communications on IT service offerings to act as a liaison between information service/solution teams and business partners.

  • Develops and enhances relationships with key business stakeholders, actively managing their expectations and monitoring satisfaction levels.

  • Works with business partners to institute measures of relationship quality, service performance, business alignment, and report on a regular basis.

  • Plans, directs, aligns and executes long-term strategic business and technology roadmaps.

  • Oversees and contributes to the effective use and governance of the enterprise architecture domains and application portfolio architectures.

  • Ensures that decisions are being made in alignment with SCE's and IT’s strategic direction and strategy and with business needs and technical capabilities. Ensures that the demand is in line with agreed IT investment & operating plan.

  • Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.

  • Makes, recommends and/or approves employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, and termination).

  • Manages employee performance for both direct and/or matrixed reports.

  • Establishes performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures. Manages, trains, and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.

  • Demonstrates Company values through decisions and actions.

  • Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.

  • May conduct and participate in short term and long term external research and development projects to influence technology research and policy which may be used by other companies.

Minimum qualifications

  • Five years of experience managing or supervising one or more technical organizational units.

  • Two years of experience managing large corporate budgets

  • Knowledge of IT architecture and/or software and systems engineering disciplines.

  • Knowledge of evolving IT technologies.

  • Knowledge of the utility industry, in supporting area of Transmission Distribution, Demand Response, Distributed Energy Resources, Demand Side Load Control, Asset Lifecycle Management, Plant Accounting.

  • Two or more years of experience managing technical teams and strong individual technical contributors in the context of large portfolios and critical IT projects.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or MBA/MA/MS degree in engineering, computer science, information systems or equivalent experience

  • Five years of experience in a regulated utility environment.

  • Five years of IT project architecture experience.

  • Business Architecture Certification (CBA)

  • TOGAF Certification
