Job Summary

This role supervises the Regional Operations Center (ROC) to ensure staffing and shift assignments are adequate to provide 24-hour coverage for transmission and distribution switching and service restoration.

  • Coordinates, issues and approves switching orders to coordinate distribution, substation and transmission switching to restore service to customers

  • Position responsible to oversee analysts and switching personnel

  • Prepares, directs, and authorizes/executes switching orders for construction and maintenance work

  • Performs regional analysis and prioritization of dispatching functions to optimize resource availability and utilization

  • Maintains, monitors, operates and updates Automated Distribution Management System(ADMS) to include monitoring and operating computers, responding to alarms and monitoring transmission and distribution loading and voltage levels

  • Coordinate switching with system operations

  • Monitors and operates Trouble Reporting System (TRS) in response to customer outage

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications

  • Required: 7+ years related experience with a preferred Associate Degree (Or 5+ years related experience with a Bachelors Degree; Or 9+ years of related experience with a High School degree / equivalent) in electrical equipment and principles, knowledge of switching of transmission and distribution equipment, substation switching, service restoration

  • Required: Ability to work rotating shifts up to 12 hours

  • Preferred: Switching certified

  • Full knowledge of concepts and applications of electrical equipment and principles, switching of transmission and distribution equipment, substation switching, service restoration, transmission and distribution system operations and company standards and policies

  • Must be able to meet NERC qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of math and computers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Focus on customer service; technical problem solving; computer applications, leadership; IBEW contract

  • Makes sound decisions quickly

  • Process information quickly

  • Reads functional and one-line diagrams

  • Deals with stressful situations

  • Performs varies duties simultaneously
