Special Information : Seeking Intern who is able to work on full-time basis initially and who can continue working on a part-time basis once school is in session.

Internship opportunity available for the Summer of 2017 and through Fall 2017 on the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) Petersburg Generation Plant team. Position designed to provide Intern with controls experience as it relates to the process of coal-fired power generation and the environmental processes associated with it.


Successful candidate should be a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field. An academic standing of Senior in Fall 2017 is preferred. Intern should have completed coursework in AC/DC electronics, controls, physics, statics, and dynamics. Candidate possessing a strong academic background and proficiency regarding AutoCad, SharePoint and Microsoft Office programs (including Access and Word) is preferred. Ability to utilize various network tools and is a plus.


Intern will receive firsthand experience by engaging in and assisting with the following projects:

  • Instrument Calibration Database;

  • Verification and red-line mark-ups of electrical prints;

  • Documentation associated with ACCG documents for the Petersburg Generation Plant.

Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments or projects as determined by his or her supervisor.


If academic credit for the work experience is desired, it is the intern’s responsibility to provide appropriate paperwork, interviews and evaluations to the supervisor in a timely manner for completion and verification.

Due to desire for Intern to be able to continue working when school is back in session, additional consideration will be given to candidates attending Electrical Engineering Technology or related field of study at area college or university, such as University of Evansville or University of Southern Indiana.
