Con Edison Sr Specialist / 2L in New York, New York

Qualifications: O&R; Project Management is seeking a Sr. Specialist to join its team. This position requires candidates to demonstrate in the application they possess the following required skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years related work experience OR Associate's degree with a minimum of four years of related work experience OR High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of five years of related work experience.

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is preferred.

  • Candidates without a CAPM must demonstrate their ability to achieve certification within 12 months in position.

  • Related work experience must include experience in at least one of the following functional areas: computer technology, containing but not limited to customer service, systems development, project management, computer networking, computer/server hardware, documenting systems.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Windows environments and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).

  • Must demonstrate an ability to understand database concepts as well as technical system attributes and architecture.

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.

  • Must be able to work effectively with all company departments, various levels of management and third party vendors.

  • Must be able to organize and plan workloads for projects and employees.

  • Must have strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have experience in technical writing and experience in developing systems specifications.

  • Must utilize project management skills to lead and facilitate fixes for system data integrity (e.g., BI, Oracle, Internal Server and Organizational SharePoint Site).

Responsibilities: Under general direction of the Controls Manager, the position is responsible for working with the Project Management Organization (PMO), other business areas and the Enterprise Project Management Organization (EPMO) to identify, document and test requirements for functional changes and enhancements to project management cloud environment applications and associated server applications/systems. In addition, the Senior Specialist will supervise projects and resources to accomplish departmental goals while continuously planning for future system enhancements and needs. The Senior Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert to support business area needs and technical system processes.

Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Analyzes user requests and provides alternatives/improvements to accomplish the business need.Responsible for callout 24x7 to address batch stream/system problems.Makes recommendations (business and technical) to improve applications and implements recommendations to achieve desired benefits. Responsible either directly or through assigned resources for user acceptance testing and sign off of completed PM software changes and enhancements. (e.g., Oracle P6 Platform, Estimating Solutions, and Cloud Environment).Responsible for working with the business users to help them develop a better understanding of newly deployed or underutilized application functionality to achieve improved operating efficiency. Required to explain business functionality to business areas via training and discussions as subject matter experts.Responsible for maintaining Loadspring cloud environment and project management system documentation related to training, system change requests, testing, SOX and departmental procedures.

Work with auditing and SOX team to evaluate system processes when required.Responsible for maintaining an up to date knowledge of technology solutions and approaches related to project management systems and associated applications.Prepares system justification documentation and provides business case data for proposed system changes.Works in conjunction with the EPMO on large projects spanning across both O&R; and Con Ed.Responsible for meeting with business area section managers and directors to keep them informed of the status of requested system changes and enhancements.Responsible for the implementation and production verification of all system changes and enhancements.Responsible for maintaining integrity of and performing updates to system tables.Works with a variety of vendors to achieve departmental and business goals via productivity improvements.Trains Project Managers on department processes and procedures.Coordinates the deployment of software solution releases across numerous O&R; and Con Ed Departments.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.

  • Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.

  • Must be able to provide off hour, on-call support for server and software related issues as required.
