Con Edison Engineer Associate Engineer A Sr Engineer / 2L in New York, New York

Qualifications: Gas Transmission Engineering (Gas Transmission Planning & Pipeline Integrity) is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required. Experience in the areas of operations and maintenance in the utility industry is required. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Company procedures and policies as well as State and Federal regulations affecting gas operations is required. Computer literacy (including MS Office and mainframe systems) is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and gas system design or 6 years of operations experience. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Additionally, strong computer skills and familiarity with the Incident Command System are required. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 5 years of applicable engineering work experience or 3 years of operations experience. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Additionally, strong computer skills and familiarity with the Incident Command System are required. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience or 2 years of work experience in engineering, construction, or other operations area is required.

Responsibilities: Responsible to plan, design, and analyze all activities for the successful planning of gas transmission and distribution projects. Candidate is required to perform network analyses, develop system reinforcement plans, and provide engineering and system operation support and guidance to Gas Control and GERC during gas system emergencies. Candidate may be required to prepare and issue specifications and drawings based on Federal, State and local code requirements. Represent the Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations. Provide guidance to Operating Organizations in regards to codes, specifications, and drawings. Candidate may be required for writing technical reports and conducting technical presentations to all levels of management

In addition, the candidate is required to be part of an emergency on-call rotation and to provide technical support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs, Westchester, Orange and Rockland Counties. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather as required and wear the associated PPE
