AREVA is seeking an Engineering Co-op for our Lynchburg, VA location.

IBOE develops tools and provides services for refueling PWR/BWR plants in the United States. This includes long handled service tools, general service tools, inspection/overview tools, robotics, engineered heavy lift equipment, heavy lift oversight and component replacement tooling for reactor heads/reactor internals

Job Responsibilities:

Assist senior engineers in designing, testing and fabricating tools for use in commercial nuclear power reactors. Take on small design projects utilizing Solidworks that entail mechanical design, fabrication and testing. Along with the design and testing write reports and operating instructions based on findings

Assigned Projects:

PWR Tooling, BWR Tooling, Stearns Roger OEM Equipment and Tooling.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this temporary co-op opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

  • A junior or senior level student pursuing a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

  • General hand tool knowledge.

  • Strong emphasis on attention to detail and product quality.

  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) and work well with others.

  • The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position: *

  • CAD experience

  • Machining/Welding experience

  • Hands on Mechanical experience

  • You must be enrolled in your school's co-op program

TRAVEL: Sporadic 5% domestic.
