Southern Company pilots are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of company executives, employees, and business associates conducting business on behalf of Southern Company and its subsidiaries.

Specific Job Requirements:

Captain

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings.

Flight Time Requirements:

  • 3,000 Hours Total Time

  • 1,500 Hours PIC Multi-Engine (Fixed-Wing)

  • 1,000 Hours Multi-Engine Turbine Preferred (Fixed-Wing)

  • First-Class FAA Medical Certificate (Must be able to acquire)

  • Commercial Pilot Certificate, with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings

Flight Time Requirements:

  • 1,500 Hours Total Time

  • 500 Hours PIC Multi-Engine (Fixed-Wing)

  • 500 Hours Multi-Engine Turbine Preferred (Fixed-Wing)

  • First-Class FAA Medical Certificate (Must be able to acquire)

Formal Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.

  • College Degree desirable

Skills & Abilities:

  • Perform PIC and SIC duties, as defined in the Flight Operations Manual (FOM).

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision

  • Must be a cooperative team player

  • Must accept flexible and dynamic schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekend flights and overnight travel

  • Be willing to accept temporary assignments at other company domiciles, on occasion.

  • Must have good communications skills

  • Must be able to interact appropriately with executive level customers

  • Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) and ISBAO standards.
